U.S. venture capital funding rose to nearly $9.5B in Q1

Venture capital funding in the first quarter increased to its highest level since Q2 of 2001, according to the MoneyTree Report. U.S. startups received almost $9.5 billion, 57% more than the figure for Q1 of 2013. Software firms got the biggest share of the money at more than $4 billion.
