Canada moving toward new national drug database

Concerned about the huge impact prescription drugs have on health care costs, Health Canada wants a better understanding of which drugs Canadians are taking and how they are prescribed. The agency is contracting with IMS Health of Montreal to develop a national prescription drug database that will track sales and gather specific information on ailments for which doctors are prescribing drugs.
