Detroit officials struggle to resolve deficit

A 17% drop in student enrollment over the past ten years, faulty enrollment projections and two straight years of state spending cuts have created a looming deficit for the Detroit Public Schools system. As officials scramble to pare back the rest of this year's spending, program cancellations and the likelihood of more school closings are angering parents.
