Embryonic and adult stem cells guided by one gene

U.S. researchers say a mouse study found the Zfx gene controls the ability of both embryonic and adult stem cells to renew themselves. The study's lead researcher says learning more about this gene could result in increasing self-renewal of several kinds of stem cells and lead to greater stem cell production.
