Mentoring key to keeping kids in school, educators say

North Carolina educators must identify and mentor students at risk of dropping out one-on-one, educators told lawmakers Wednesday as they seek a way to improve the state's 68% four-year graduation rate. "We want to find out what has the best potential for saving kids," said House Speaker Joe Hackney, a Democrat.
