B vitamins for ESRD patients fail to improve outcomes

B vitamins do not reduce mortality rates or cardiovascular events for end-stage renal disease patients, according to a German study. Researchers said ESRD patients with the highest homocysteine levels and signs of B vitamin deficiency should get vitamin therapy but an "explicit threshold for this homocysteine level" is lacking.
