Many Colorado businesses see hikes in unemployment insurance rates

Unemployment insurance rates are likely to increase substantially for Colorado businesses that laid off employees recently, according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. "It is not a rosy picture," said Tony Gagliardi, NFIB/Colorado, who said some rates were doubled or tripled in the first quarter. But for employers who didn't lay off workers, rates are flat or even declining, according to the state labor department.
