Report provides tips for hospitals on changeover to ICD-10

The switch to the ICD-10 coding system, which is required by 2013, entails big changes in technology and business processes, a report says, adding that "organizations that have not begun their ICD-10 remediation efforts are at risk of missing the current deadlines. What's equally clear is that the deadlines are unlikely to be adjusted again." The report suggests adopting a bi-directional crosswalk to facilitate the transition, among other recommendations.
