Indiana schools could get more funding under new budget plan

An Indiana Senate committee approved a draft $28 billion state budget Monday that includes $150 million in additional school funding over the next two years. The budget plan is based on estimates of $650 million more in state revenue than previously had been projected. The proposal is expected to pass a full vote of the Republican-controlled Senate, though Democrats are calling for more of the extra revenue to be diverted to public schools.
