Maternal obesity may increase neurodevelopmental risks in children

Children born to obese or overweight women may be at increased risk for neurodevelopmental disorders, according to an analysis of 12 studies published in the journal Obesity Reviews. The analysis also found that maternal obesity is associated with cognitive problems in childhood, eating disorders in adolescence and psychotic conditions in adulthood.
