Officials address technical challenges of computer-based tests

Technical challenges facing schools in implementing new national computer-based assessments were the focus of an Education Department hearing held Friday. Two consortia developing the tests say they are working to assess districts' technical capacities to handle large-scale computer-based tests, and determine what changes and upgrades are needed to accommodate the tests, plus interim assessments. The security of student test data also is a concern, officials said.
