Probe continues into Delaware heart-test denials

Legislators in Delaware and in Washington, D.C., are turning up the heat on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, after a pair of reports were released last week finding four individuals who needed emergency heart surgery days after after a third-party contractor denied authorization for nuclear stress tests. In the report issued by the Delaware Department of Insurance, the patients could have undergone bypass surgery or cardiac catheterization rather than the emergency surgery had the stress tests been allowed.
