The ultraluxury hotel segment in the Caribbean showed similar performance dips as the rest of the industry during the recession, although various measures allowed operators to maintain profitability, this analysis concludes. "[T]here seems to be consensus that the ultra-luxury Caribbean market survived the effects of the Great Recession and emerged as a stronger contender than before in the global market to capture luxury travelers," the study authors write.
