Farm-to-school programs are eligible for federal grants

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced this week that $3.5 million in federal grants will go to fund farm-to-school programs. Applications are due June 15 with a suggested due date for letters of intent due May 18 for the grants, each worth up to $100,000. The money, available through the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, is expected to be distributed in October.
