Guidance may alter retirement-age rules for government workers

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service are asking for public comment on changes they are proposing for government employees' retirement plans. The proposed guidelines would clarify that plans without distributions before age 62 don't require a "normal" retirement-age definition, and they would change an age-related safe-harbor rule for public-safety workers.
