People don't buy plywood and other big, heavy home-improvement materials online, which makes shopping Home Depot a largely in-store experience, but the retailer is still making significant investments in new technology. The chain has implemented several high-tech tools to speed the checkout process, including arming associates with "First phones," implementing a PayPal payment option and offering self-checkout.
