Study finds high abandonment rate for osteoporosis drugs

Nearly 30% of women newly prescribed a bisphosphonate therapy for osteoporosis did not pick up the drug within 60 days, a study of Kaiser Permanente Southern California members' EHRs found. Older women and those who had visited an emergency department within the past 12 months were less likely to pick up their prescription.
