Baltimore County shrinks the achievement gap

Baltimore County school district has earned plaudits for its high graduation rate for black males and for narrowing the racial achievement gap on state tests. The district has dropped lightweight courses, given extra language-arts help to struggling students and pushed pupils with average grades to take advanced courses.
