IMF to wield more power in changing global economy

The International Monetary Fund is expected to take on a bigger role as the chief oversight body of the global economy. The IMF would act as a global banker to countries and would have the ability to inject liquidity into economies. Those powers were previously reserved for powerful central banks such as the Federal Reserve.
