Green options exist when pesticides are banned

Officials in Nanaimo, Canada, could pass a bill later this month that will ban all chemical insecticides, herbicides and fungicides after a one-year education period. However, more eco-friendly alternatives exist, writes Darrell Bellaart. For example, corn gluten meal, a sticky byproduct of the corn-milling process, is becoming more popular as a natural pre-emergent herbicide.
