Physician adoption of e-prescribing increases

The number of e-prescriptions increased nearly threefold between 2008 and 2009, from 68 million to 191 million, Surescripts data show. This number represents about 12% of the 1.63 billion original prescriptions, not including refills. Nearly 20% of prescriptions filed in the first quarter of this year were done so electronically, Surescripts said. The company's online network covers much of the electronic communications.
