Steady weight gain is linked to postmenopausal breast cancer risk

The risk for postmenopausal breast cancer is greater in women who steadily gain weight as they grow older compared with those who maintain their weight over time, a U.S. study found. The higher risk could be linked to the increase in the number of cells produced in the breast caused by the overproduction of estrogen in the body's excess fat cells, one of the researchers said.
