Study shows pigs originated in Asia

International researchers compared mitochondrial DNA in modern-day pig specimens from Asia and found that they match that of ancient pigs in the same region, indicating that today's swine population can be traced back to the region. The finding provides insight into animal husbandry and human migration, the researchers said.
