29% of U.K. geography teachers lack a corresponding degree

Many school teachers in the U.K. do not have expertise in the subjects they teach, according to data from the country's Department of Education. Records show that relevant degrees or postgraduate qualifications are lacking among about 29% of geography teachers, 25% of math teachers, 31% of physics teachers and 21% of English teachers. The data has generated concern over standards in the country's secondary schools.
