Foursquare plans paid-media ad platform

Foursquare plans to launch a paid-media platform in mid-June that will serve ads based on the same "explore" algorithms the service uses to suggest events and places of interest. Foursquare is pitching the new platform to previous big-brand partners, some of which have given the concept a guarded welcome. "As Foursquare rolls out its new paid-media platform, we'll certainly be giving serious thought to how it would fit into our commitment to bring social to a local level," said Walgreens social media director Adam Kmiec.
