NYC takes a second look at the school breakfast program

New York City officials said they are concerned that a program in which breakfast is served in classrooms may add to childhood obesity problems. Study data on elementary students showed 21% of children were possibly eating two breakfasts, one at home and one at school. Supporters who want to expand the breakfast program to additional schools say it is needed because more than 25% of children in the city live in families with incomes below poverty level.
