For ESPN, "Monday Night Football" makes dollars, sense

Although increasingly expensive, the NFL can make a network, as it did for Fox, and it helped build ESPN into a cable juggernaut. This is why ESPN was willing to pay $1.1 billion a year for "Monday Night Football," which could earn the network upward of $200 million a year, according to a Merrill Lynch report.
