D.C. ballpark "proves it's doable" to build green

Washington, D.C.'s new baseball stadium is lit with high-efficiency bulbs, has low-flow toilets and was built near public transportation links. Nationals Park is the country's first green stadium in professional sports, and the modifications added just 2% to construction costs. Other teams are trending green, too. The Seattle Mariners started a composting project at Safeco Field, while ballparks from San Francisco to Cleveland have installed solar panels.
