U.S., South Korea sign gas-hydrates agreement

The U.S. and South Korea have signed a joint cooperation pact to explore and develop commercial production methods for gas hydrates, usually found in deep oceans where natural gas has condensed into semi-solid form. The agreement may lead to South Korea's involvement in the Alaska North Slope to test-produce gas hydrates from 2009.
