Airlines, agencies, GDSs scramble to meet Secure Flight deadlines

Travel agencies, global distribution systems and airlines are working with the Transportation Security Administration to meet new Secure Flight requirements for collecting passenger information. The TSA's rules "place the burden on collecting and distributing Secure Flight data on the airlines rather than directly on travel agents. The only way for the airlines to comply with the rule is to pass the burden on to travel agents," said John Pittman, vice president of industry and consumer affairs at ASTA.
