Oracle's plan to purchase Sun Microsystems represents a growing acquisitions trend in the technology sector driven by consumer and business customers calling for one-stop shopping from their suppliers. "I believe that we are in the fifth inning of a nine-inning consolidation game," said former Sun executive William Coleman III. "It's not over by any stretch of the imagination, and there are drastic things that still have to happen."
