Senate leader proposes appointment of health quality chief

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., said he plans to introduce a bill that would create a national director for health care quality, who would focus on improving the country's quality of care and reducing medical costs. Rockefeller also is considering setting health IT system adoption by 2015 as a prerequisite for doctors and hospitals to receive Medicare reimbursements.
