Colo. governor backs proposed changes to teacher evaluations, tenure

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter pledged support for legislation aimed at changing teacher tenure and evaluations, but it still must wind its way through the the state legislature. The state teachers union opposes the bill, which would tie 50% of teacher evaluations to student achievement and allow for tenure to be stripped from teachers if they don't hit certain benchmarks.
