NIST is finalizing testing tools for EHR certification

The National Institute for Standards and Technology is nearing the final stages of completing testing methods for use in the two-pronged process of certifying EHR systems. The agency is also working on EHR usability criteria. "We have experts in human factor technology. In the end, we're going to have objective criteria to measure [EHR] usability. I think that's going to play a large role in adoption," said the agency's health IT program coordinator.
