Retailers see growth potential in Bulgaria

Carrefour launched its first store in Sofia, Bulgaria, this week as it restarts its efforts in Eastern Europe. Other retailers, including Lidl Stiftung and Mercator Poslovni Sistem, also are expanding in Bulgaria, the poorest member of the European Union. "The Bulgarian market has growth potential for European-type retailers," said Carrefour Bulgaria CEO Laurent Bendavid.
