Study IDs olive oil compounds that make Mediterranean diet work

A study showed that properties in virgin olive oil that inhibit the genes that play a role in inflammation may be responsible for the cardiovascular benefits of the Mediterranean diet. The research focused on people with metabolic syndrome who followed a diet rich in phenol compounds found in olive oil.
