TSA gets serious about social media

TSA views social media as a way "to have a conversation with the [traveling] public," according to agency officials, and at times that conversation has led to changes in policies and procedures. "Blogger Bob" and his colleagues in TSA's Office of Communications and Public Affairs get more questions than criticisms from their constant interaction with the public, says Assistant Administrator Kristin Lee. More recently, the agency has added Twitter to its social media repertoire, using the micro-blogging platform to send out security updates in real time.
