Mapping software seeks to decipher crime patterns

A former landscape architect has created software that could help police departments map crime patterns and evaluate the risk to neighborhoods by time and location. Robert Cheetham of Azavea says this of his efforts: "We're combining software, math and geographic information science to discover the patterns that are around us."
