Surgeon educates Arab-Israeli community on plastic surgery

Dr. Rania El Hativ, who is Israel's first female Arab plastic surgeon, says her work treating patients with trauma, burns, birth defects and war injuries is "inspiring." El Hativ said she educates other Arab-Israelis -- who often have cultural aversion to the idea of plastic surgery -- about how surgery can improve lives. "They think it's all about aesthetics and changing lips or breasts, which is not something they find acceptable or are willing to discuss even if they do decide to do it," she said.
