Hospitals begin to post physician ratings data online

The University of Utah Health Care hospital system publishes its own physician ratings online so they come up first when patients conduct searches, helping to balance less favorable reviews. While many hospitals have surveyed patients for decades, only recently has there been a trend to post the data and show comparisons among physicians. "Doctors are highly competitive and no one wants to be on the bottom of the list," said James Merlino, chief experience officer at the Cleveland Clinic.
