Maine sees increasing number of nursing jobs

Nursing represents the largest health care occupation in Maine, at 14,000 jobs, and the number of nursing positions is expected to increase 20% during this decade. Out-of-state employers often hire Maine nursing school graduates, competing with in-state facilities. Nurse executive Sherri Woodward says nurses will play a big role in coordinated care and health care reform, helping make the profession "probably one of the most secure jobs that you can have."
