Sony taps Google Hangout to promote "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"

Sony is using a Google offering called "Shop the Hangout" to promote "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," allowing fans to engage with the movie's cast and director in an interactive broadcast that will also prompt viewers to purchase movie merchandise and tickets. Other brands that have used the service include Nike and Topman. Google reports that the Hangout pilot program has generated more than 150 million social media impressions.
