Senators introduce bipartisan bill allowing therapeutic cloning

A bipartisan group of senators, including Republican Arlen Specter, who has Hodgkin's disease, has introduced legislation that would ban human cloning for reproductive purposes, but support therapeutic cloning to provide embryonic stem cells for research. The proposal is similar to bills introduced earlier in both houses of Congress, and would make reproductive cloning a crime carrying a sentence of up to 10 years.
