Spanish classes for Hispanics boost literacy, language skills

Experts say Spanish classes for native speakers give immigrant children the foundation they need to stay in school and succeed academically. The classes started in southern border states two decades ago but have since spread to the Midwest and even the Northeast as more immigrants moved north.
