Atlanta building 40-year condo supply, speculative offices

A visit to Atlanta's Buckhead area demonstrates a big part of what happened to America's commercial real estate sector. At the current sales rate, the 35 condo projects under way will supply demand for the next 40 years. Four speculative office buildings being developed have almost no tenants lined up, and a $600 million outdoor shopping center project, in an area that already has two luxury shopping malls, suspended construction to preserve the developers' cash.
