Stimulus funds accelerate removal of two Washington state dams

Federal stimulus funds will accelerate the time line by one year for removal of two dams in Washington state's Olympic National Park. The removal of the dams blocking the Elwha River will begin in 2011 instead of 2012, due to $54 million in stimulus funds received from the Park Service. The dam removal will restore salmon runs in the National Park that are vital to the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.
