Study: 33% of world's rivers decline in flow of water

One-third of the world's rivers face declines in the amount of water they discharge, according to a new study in the American Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate. The study examined 925 rivers from 1948 to 2004 and found that the inflow to the Pacific Ocean dropped by 6%. Major rivers with declining flow around the world include the Colorado, Niger and Ganges rivers.
