Educators advise parents not to take children to work

Officials in several Illinois districts are asking parents not to take their children out of school for national Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, saying students will be marked absent. If a large number of students are absent, material covered that day will have to be redone -- putting classes behind and requiring teachers to make up the lessons, officials said. District leaders say students who wish to shadow their parents at work should do so during the summer.
