Student with Down syndrome is CEC award winner for self-advocacy

Jessica Smart, a 20-year-old student who has Down syndrome, is set to accept one of CEC's 27 international Yes I Can! awards on Friday in Nashville, Tenn. Smart, who was recognized as a self-advocate for people with disabilities, serves as a volunteer in her community and often speaks to groups to raise awareness about Down syndrome.
