Apple, Google both collecting location data via devices

Researchers have found that both Apple's iPhones and Google's Android smartphones collect and periodically transmit location information back to Apple and Google. Both companies are reportedly gathering location data to tap into the surging market for location-based services and marketing, but government and privacy advocates are taking note.
